Individual Therapy

When familiarity no longer feels safe…

You pull up at a tall building and, as you gaze up, the building appears twice as large as it did a moment ago. A part of you tells you to “turn around”… that “you don’t need this.”

But another part of you knows that “things cannot continue the way they have been.”

As you park the car and make your way to the elevator, your legs become weak. Your breathing becomes heavy. You want to run away – run back into the comfort of familiarity. But a part of you already knows familiarity is no longer safe. You have to proceed further.

When you know you have to venture into unknown territory…

The long corridor seems never-ending as doors on either side lead to unknown territory. Your breathing quickens and becomes shallow. Your heart is pounding. You feel uncertain. Your thoughts are racing:

“Is this the right decision?”

“Am I overreacting?”

“Is this really necessary?”

You stop.

“I can’t do this,” a part of you says. “But you have to,” another part declares.

The internal battle continues as you approach a door that reads 335. This is it…

Past the point of no return… but it’s ok!

You take a deep breath and open the door. The scent of lavender and lemongrass surrounds your senses and welcomes you into a dim-lit room. Your senses surrender to the aroma. The ambience is soothing, as soft soulful music plays in the background. The room is intimate and cozy – very personal and relaxing.

You see a soft smile and a gentle hand guides you to sit down on a soft small couch with two accent chairs positioned in front of it. The seating arrangement creates an intimate circle, and you feel how the position of the chairs symbolizes equality between the sitters.

There is a large art work on the wall, depicting an orange/blue sunset over low-crashing waves. It is so large you feel you are standing on its shores. You can almost hear the sounds of the crashing waves. Opposite of the art is a large vintage mirror identical to the logo on the business card.

Straight ahead you can see a lake with a fountain, surrounded by a manicured landscape; you can see people laughing and talking as they wait for a train, and large green foliage surrounds the outside of the large window.

You are offered some water. Mints and a box of Kleenex rest near your hands.

Your heart is slowing. Your breathing is relaxing. The voices in your head have quieted. It’s been a long time since you felt this calmness – a sense of peace you thought you would never feel again.

You feel relaxed. You feel comfortable. A voice in your head whispers, “I am safe. I am finally understood.”

The smiling lady, who now sits casually in front of you, speaks: “Welcome to Through The Looking Glass Counseling Services. I’m so happy you came.”

Help is available to you…

Are you anywhere from a high school graduate to an entrepreneur earning millions a year?

Do you have a sense that the answers to all your problems lie hidden within you, but you just don’t know how to access them?

Have you tried repeatedly to create the life you want but feel trapped in a cycle of self-sabotaging behaviors? Does every choice you make fill you with fear and worry?

Do you hear an incessant voice in your head every moment of the day reminding you of your inadequacies and why you will never be good enough?

If the answer to these questions is a “yes,” then you’ve come to the right place.

Whether you’re in a struggling relationship looking to rekindle love or trying to improve your life but continue to self-sabotage or feel afraid of what others might think or say, I can help.

You can experience a new way of life.

My clients seek guidance in managing their fearful and self-deprecating thoughts.

They seek guidance in regaining control from overwhelming body sensations developed from traumas or previous life experiences.

Are you ready to push the façade aside and feel more connected to your true purpose in life?

Individual therapy can help.

When it comes to anxiety and depression, my approach is to focus on addressing the root cause of the depression and anxiety. By doing this, you will notice a change in your present ability to manage your anxiety.

I accomplish this by utilizing modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal family Systems, or Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) to help you address the anxiety and depression at the source. The source is the first time you felt threatened or in danger.

I study Adaptive Internal Processing and interweave Internal Family Systems and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you better understand your memories and how to alter your thoughts.

In therapy, you will learn that your thoughts influence your emotions. Our emotions influence our behaviors, and our behaviors influence how the world interacts with us – this strengthens the thought you initially had.

It truly is Mind over Matter.

Our mind is not controlled by events and physical sensations (fight, flight, or freeze).

Our mind is part of the invisible, transcendent world of thought, feeling, and attitude.

In therapy, we will be working with the mind, not the brain. Your mind has the power of changing and evolving your brain, and you will be free from the physical sensations that bring you into therapy.

It’s time to break the cycle that’s holding you back from the life you want.
I have the experience, knowledge, training, and compassion to help you change the narrative of your story – to break the chains that confine you to your past.

If you are still reading this, that means you are ready to no longer be bothered by life events. You are ready to feel unstoppable no matter what life throws at you. You are ready to truly enjoy your time with your loved ones. The time is NOW to live the life you deserve.
